Got a load assignment today to bobtail 2hr 15m to pick up an empty and then turn around and go back the way I just came to get loaded at a spot about 30m from where I started. Plan was to drop the empty and hook a pre-load.

Got to the place to pick up the empty, and it wasn't. Had a few dozen 55-gallon steel drums in there.

Wound up bobtailing back the way I came and hooking the pre-load without benefit of an empty to drop.

Got paid for all of it, though, so I didn't mind. Makes for an amusing trucker story tho.

Our new Fed Ex ground company pissed us off, so we quit. They put cheap drive tires on the truck, and it shook like hell. I could see that 5 of them were bad by riding behind the truck at low speed. They replaced 3 of them with more cheap tires, and we returned the truck to them. They also lied to us about when we would get on the new health insurance plan. Pushed it back a month twice, and I have no faith in them.

Got a new job with another contractor here in town. Health insurance, nice truck. It's .68 per mile with a $1400 per week each guarantee. This is a much larger company with 74 trucks, and they have many dedicated routes. So we have a chance to get one of those in the near future. Hopefully this one works out!

Just got empty in Findlay Ohio. Headed down to Groveport to pick up another BH load going back out to Tualatin and Sisters Oregon. I also have to pick up a trainee in Groveport and drag him with me. I’ll be his third trainer in 2 weeks, I was told that I will also be his last one. Which lead me to my next question, if things go south, can I come back alone?

That is exactly what I told them. But that’s ok. If it doesn’t work out, I’ll be home earlier.
