Glad you cleared that up...I always heard..."4 hours from bottle to throttle." That is not to say the BAC rules don't apply...because they certainly do. Also, can you be written up for Driving While Impaired if you are suffering from a sever hangover from the night before? I'm just saying...I wouldn't risk my driving career over a bottle of booze.

    Glad I don't drink.

I'll admit when I was done for the weekend and there was a bar within walking distance I would go have a few, but I believe the letter of the law says unless its on the BOL, it cant be in the truck. (Alcohol).

Oh, Im sorry, if its on the BOL then its in the trailer, so, I guess its a personal risk factor decision. Good luck. I wont say I havent done it, but, I knew if I did, the truck wern't goin anywhere till the next day. (always park where you know you wont be moving).

To the poster with the no alcohol beer? Got a photo of the label?

I have heard for a long time "Sprite" has some alcohol in it.

Also are you sure the TV show "20-20" isn't out their with hidden cameras? Remember the "Killer" trucks show?

If somone wanted to be a "narc" they might just have a cell with a camera and video capabilities!

I agree with SCUBY 100%, If i know I have down time coming, I'll get to a truck stop where there is a motel/hotel (clean and trustworthy) either on premise or close by. I'd rather spend the money on a hotle/motel for the evening or try to make a deal for the weekend if I have a reset. Money spent that way is a hell of a lot easier than getting DOT on your back and or your company and not to forget the legal hassels or the fines later on donw the Calander. Besides after a good night of popping the top I prefer a decent three S's ..... and be fresh back in the truck..........my opinion...... I've already had a company screw me and cleared it up..........story to follow.

Another thing to consider is most truck stops do not have an "on premise consumption license." That alone can get you fined or tossed into jail.

    Intothesunset Thanks this.

The answer is: You really want to risk your job over a beer in your truck when it probably violates your company rules?

You really need to go back and reread this whole thread because you didn't catch the several threads that said you should not have beer in the truck! Is a DUI and getting fired many miles from home really worth a cheap beer high for having beer in the fridge? HMMMMM I think you worked to hard for that CDL to throw it away like that!

Also that 4 hour rule from bottle to throttle... remember ANY concentration on the BAC will get you parked for 10! 4 hours is a just GUIDE LINE!

Wether or not you are allowed to have a drink in your truck while you are on break will be argued untill the end of days but one thing I am sure of is it is never a good idea to have anything inside your truck while you are rolling even if it is a fresh unopened six pack stashed under your bunk. Just not a good chance to take. If you absolutely need a drink at the end of a long day, just wait and stop somewhere and grab a single after you are shut down for the night. Dont keep a stock in your mini fridge or cooler. I carried a few extras a time or 2 in my dumber just starting out days before i realized it just wasnt even close to being a smart thing to do.
