If somebody uses a torch on a flammable load, I'd be questioning how they even got a hazmat endorsement. We haul a lot of asphalt oil, so needing a torch at some point is inevitable. One place we take caustic has just hot water, but the hose wont reach the top of the trailer, so the only way to thaw out the end of the air line in winter, is to use the torch to let the air in.

I just put in an app for them too. Haven’t been in a truck in almost two years, but after I left superior carriers I hauled water for super trucking (silver and maroon w900s) for Poland spring. It was a great job, a ton of OT in the summer, and just enough variation to keep you sane. It’s the only trucking gig I’ll consider at this point. Hoping to hear back from the sooner rather than later as I have another job waiting on an answer from me....

have you heard anything? I know you posted several weeks ago at this point.

I did, I interviewed and was not selected for the job. I did terrible during the question and answer phase with hr lol. It did take about about 45 days to go from applying to interview and rejection.

There were never any day shifts available, that was a "mistake" by hr, but I was willing to work the night shift because the pay was good. Decent benefits package, avg about 45-50 hrs per week, more when it was busy. Vacation/PTO blackout during the summer. Pay differential for working nights (starting at 27/hr).

One potential negative is that Nestle is selling the water division, buyer unknown. So things could change.

Sorry to hear! Yeah I can’t do nights again. Did they ever say anything about the rumford thing? The ad says they’re hiring for Poland and rumford. And the $27.10 is after the pay differential?

They had rumford and poland available, both were night shifts. The 27.10 was before the pay differential. You could switch shifts when they came up but its based on seniority. So if a night guy has been there longer than you and a day shift comes up he will get it. The start times varied, seemed like you could work your way to an earlier start time relatively quick.

My knee jerk reaction to this was “well that sucks, guess I can move on from that idea”. But the more I think about it the more I think I could give night driving a shot again if I were to get an offer. Any idea what the differential pay was? Or available start times? I know that was a little while ago when you interviewed but they’re still hiring for a couple spots out of Poland. I’d also have to relocate which sucks, but there isn’t much for jobs where I am anyway. Certainly nothing that comes close to comparing to what Poland can pay

I believe it was an extra dollar per hour differential. Shifts were Sun-Thurs 8pm - 8am and Tues - Sat 7pm - 7am

Looks like they are selling to a NY based private equity.

Nestlé is in exclusive talks with a consortium of buyers led by US private equity firm One Rock Capital to sell its North American water business, which includes the Poland Spring and Pure Life brands, for about $4bn, said people briefed on the matter. The Swiss consumer goods giant has held talks with a number of buyers since June, including large European rivals, but the US private equity group, which is working with other backers, presented the highest bid during the sale process, those people said. It is unclear who One Rock is working with. One person briefed on the negotiations said the US private equity group was likely to sell off some of the brands immediately to other buyers. A deal could be agreed within weeks, one person said, as the two sides were finalising the agreement. The valuation of approximately $4bn for the division also includes debt. The talks were first reported by Reuters.

Thats the same PE firm that is developing One Rock Westbrook where the new Market Basket is.
