I can only remember one time being relieved to get to Battle Mountain.

Dad and me were cruising in the '66 pickup and we were running north from Berlin on a gravel highway when Dad said to pull over cause behind us it was like night time at 3 in the afternoon.......

Oh wait that was the story about getting to Austin.....

I can't think of one time I was happy to see Battle Mountain other than when it was in the rear view.

    I haven't skipped more than half....geez.
I've been waiting for probably 1500 pages for some enlightenment and finally thought I'd ask.

When I first started driving, on my first ever trip across 80 in Nevada, I stopped for the night at that J in Battle Mountain. There were some girls on the cb inviting truckers over for free, coffee, showers and conversation. She said they were living on the edge of town at somebody's ranch. I think they said it was Donna's ranch. Anyway, they must have really been bored living out there to have to invite truckers over for coffee. I was really tired and we only had to take an 8 hour break back then so I just stayed in my truck.
