ESTES Express (5 Year Review)

Not to be controversial or anything, but those guys always wanted more money from UPS because of how much money the company as a whole makes.

They were pretty much at the threshold of driver compensation package to breaking even. LTL does NOT make money like parcel does, so they don't get paid the same.

Very hard to explain that to their drivers. Not that I've even tried, in person. They're not always happy when they see us. Not much conversation.

I wish them well and all. Looking back, it makes perfect sense. But I didn't see it coming, anyway.

Parcel ain't going anywhere. Parcel is UPS. It always was going e-commerce. The "virus" just pushed it to where people who refused online ordering now participate.

Ground is booming so bad right now. Both brown and fedex. Its insane. We have so many outside guys still pulling fedex loads and peak it's over.

 

Didn't last contract for them they were greedy and almost lost it then? They were peanuts for UPS.

Guys were still top of the food chain as far as LTL went.we have a part time guy who did 20 years at overnight and last 10 at freight and he HATED UPS. I am sure he is enjoying that 55k pension while he collects and pretends to be a fedex driver part-time.

 

I don't know if they were greedy, but the company basically decided that they were paying them enough, end of story.

As a result, they got very minor raises, to the point where I was actually surprised about it.

Lol. I love them UPS comments.

I drive past the hub off briley in Nashville every night. When I drive by with that big ground set they look at me with disgust. I put my hood up and pull my hat real low.

 

That's surprising. I feel like that animosity is mostly one-directional. Lol
