Hi, I have a question regarding GPS systems I am not sure which one is good for truck drivers, to show you trucks routes and so you avoid the bridges that are too small for a truck to go through. I dont want to pay to much but everything I found was from $900 and up. Do you guys know where I can find them at a reasonable price and which ones are good? Thanks in advance!

I have heard copilot is a good program, but expensive. I used Microsoft streets and trips with gps. Now this doesnt take into consideration of a big rig, but I would just check my route against the truckers atlas. I never had any problems running into low clearance or roads I shouldnt have been on. Hope this helps.

Dono exactly what your looking @ that is that expensive.. here is the company that provides the best gps solution street prices are about 100$ less then the retail they list ...... CoPilot GPS: ALK Technologies -
I use CoPilot Truck, it has the truck routing and hazmat info from PC Miler. With GPS is about 399. Works well.

I just got the Delorme GPS software from BestBuy. $99 plus tax. Its not perfect but it is pretty good. I usually call the shippers/recievers to get their hours and local directions/truck routes and then input that into the trip plan before leaving.

We use the CoPilot Truck and love it. So another vote for CoPilot.

I use CoPilot and have very few problems with it. Sometimes, the address I'm looking for isn't even in the system, but my version is older. I'm sure the new version has better data. The other problem I found is that CoPilot likes to route me straight through towns instead of around, but as long as you check the route before driving, you'll be fine. GPS is for gidance assistance only and should not be used as a primary navigation tool. Nothing can replace your brain when figuring out routes.

I use Verizon Navigator on my cell phone. It routes for trucks and I can wear a headphone on one ear and listen to the directions instead of watching the GPS screen. It is 9.99 a month and uses no minutes.

The Copilot system y`all talk about,is it a system like TomTom ,or a PC program?:smt025

There is a copilot stand alone system & copilot software for pc. I use MS streets and trips with gps antana(only for pc as far as I know) and love it. But like they said earler, nothing replaces your brain. I wouldn't care what program I had, I would check the atlas for lcb & restricted info.
As far as price goes, get what u can budget. You can gat it back at the end of the year, via uncle sam(dosen't mater if ur o/o or co. driver). If I didn't have a lapto pc, think I would buy one & gps software insted of tomtom or one of those other gps systems. It would be cheaper. And even if u spent a little more, u would get alot more bang for ur buck!!
