Noone is innocent. the sooner you accept it, the easier life becomes.
Got reefer? Thanks this. -
TG, innocent or not - that was one funny posting! I won't ask what you could do with the name Freight Pro, and hopefully you won't tell!
On the other note, I have learned and been schooled on "innocent" (looking or claiming) too many times to buy that line LOL. Nice try though, and good luck on your next victim *grin*. (Please know I think you rock, and this is a joke)
Just for a quick update on the battlefront, we made it to FL early with minutes to spare on the delivery window (they closed the gates at 4pm - we got there at 3:55), and then sat for 20 hours waiting for our next load (wasn't assigned yet) to catch up. It was probably the deal with us being unloaded and reloaded "early" in NM, and then unloaded a full day early in FL that stalled us, better to be early and waiting any day.
Waiting at the Polk City, FL Love's is an interesting mess - looks about like a moose crammed in a matchbox! After moving the truck around in our tow-away zone spot alongside the scale about 20 times to let trucks through, the manager decided to politely ask the 3rd time for us to roll out. On the second pass through the BP across the street (against the one-way arrows to miss the fuel island traffic) I lucked out, had a truck back out, and cheetah-flipped into the spot before anyone else saw it. Finally got some rest, and my phone blew up about 3 hours later.
ps. I introduced PP to his first official lot-lizard, and we kept the doors shut!!
Got loaded out and ran to SC overnight, then dead-headed to PP's place to make sure he remembered where it was, visit with his kids, and run some laundry. We're booked to GA, then FL, we're going to stop in ATL for a day to let my wife come down and run me to the house, then run the load to NM for a Monday drop. Running the midwest has been good so far (watching for low signals in LA) and it's great miles. Who knows a decent spot near ATL to park on a weekend?
We're coming up on 16,000 miles without a service, and I'd been told anywhere from 15 to 18k on regular oil - so far we haven't had to add a gallon yet. Anyone have some smart tips on getting the truck service done? I checked on T/A's site (we'll be pressed for time as usual around 18k) and they price it at $225 for regular oil. Does this sound about right for an oil and lube, and should we be able to trust T/A to get it done right? I'd like to do longer interval oil in the future, but by the time we finish out the next regular service, she'll be ready for her 500k mile service at Cummins.
Other than that, the belts are squealing a little once in awhile, and I think it's just the A/C (small belt) slipping sometimes. They both look good, nothing missing, no cracks showing, but the truck probably sat too long and they hardened. I've been shooting them with some belt dressing at the fuel stops to get us by, and it shuts it up for about 100 miles or so, and then back again. The Cummins has a gear driven compressor, so as long as we're running we have air pressure no matter what, and I'd like to change the belts myself and find a great deal on them. Where could I find the best price to buy the belts, and a looooong wrench to borrow to pull the idler pulleys back? I've got to trim the corners where I can until I get this paper tag out of the window this month.
Running a hopper has been good - the customers have been mostly grief-free, and the place we dropped to today gave me a brand new hardhat to run with! I about fell over when the guy said I could keep it, and the next time they need something I'll be happy to come back and say thanks again! I forgot my old head bucket at the house when we rolled out, and I've been a "man of many hats" ever since!
Like to say thanks to everybody here with advice and jokes, we don't post much because we're running like Forrest Gump out here trying to get caught up. I check the posts about every day for a few minutes, and always get a kick out of something. We might be seeing a light at the end of the tunnel (hopefully not a train!) when this next week finishes up clean.
We've also got a couple of short clips and some photos of this and that - I'll try to web it and post them here tonight while PP does laundry. Be safe and best to you all.lv gn, Jarhed1964, Gears and 3 others Thank this. -
