I notice its his first post so maybe we'll get lucky and he'll just be one of those "drive bys".

I have anxiety issues as well and I put my meds on the application and they didn't say anything. I do have to get another physical by Werner's Dr. and that has me a little concerned. For the school I went through I had to go to Concentra for DOT physical and they refused me based on the medication I take, and said I can have my Dr. submit a letter saying I am ok. Well my regular Dr. does DOT as well and I just went through my primary care provider. No further issues but I do have concerns about the company doctor.

One thing I did, and may help you as well is if you get your meds dosed to be taken at bed time. I take a benzo and these drugs are looked at no better then a street drug even if they are doing you good. I have been on my meds for almost 8 years without any issues associated with the drugs. It blows me away that doctors can flunk you based on what could happen, and not what happens. I'd think after 8 years on a medicine you would know its personal drawbacks...I would be much more concerned for my safety taking a benedryl while driving for alergies then taking a benzo for an anxiety attack....without a second guess.

I just want to clarify taking a benzo to deal with stress is not something you can do and function. You will run to the pill bottle everytime something in life is wrong. I have a real problem with Dr. that give out scripts for SSRI's for unhappy people....reality is sometime life SUCKS...you should be sad at times. Stress is a part of life and some cope with it better then others. Best thing for stress is go workout, or go have yourself a nice strong orgasm. Proven fact an orgasm releases stronger endorphins then taking a valium.. %^p

I have a genetic issue causing my anxiety/panic attacks, but I have learned to manage it well and feel I pose no threat to anyone passing by me on the road.

Better yet, maybe we'll be fortunate and Black Dog will stick around.

I fail to see the "cheap, brainless high-school insults" contained within BD's post. I did read a blunt opinion, that just might be the truth. Sometimes the truth can hurt.

Don't shoot the messenger and ignore the message.
    Even if it isn't sugar-coated.

Its one thing to offer advice. But you don't have to insult people at the same time. We dont know exactly what Effinia's situation is. Just cut a little slack before you shoot your mouth off is all I'm sayin. I think Burgs is the only one here who is really qualified to have an opinion as far as anxiety and its treatment is concerned.

Please point out the "insult" you make reference to. I still don't see it.
I think we know enough. Effinia wants to drive a Big truck, but medication(s)prescribed for one problem are causing another, separate problem.
And Effinia wants to know what to do about the situation.

What more do we need to know?
    HaiL!
We're Big truck truck drivers, --- not doctors.
Excellent advice that I think we all should consider.
I don't get the impression that Effinia is seeking anxiety treatment advice from us.

When are you guys going to learn that recruiters are not there to help you??? And I'm sorry I have to agree with no meds on the truck that has anything to do with changing your moods or whatever. You'd never haul a drop of gasoline with my company and the stress can be very high. I think if you stay with the meds you'll never find a good job. There's plenty of other ways to relief stress than using a drug.

for sake of entertaining drug use for anxiety/stress the only thing the DOT puts its stamp of approval on is a drug called Buspar. I do not agree with this 100% as it is a nasty drug. I think they approve it because it has no addictive properties. The feeling it gives you will not mask your issues like you may find with a benzo. The kicker is this drug has probably a higher chance of imparing your judgement. You can see if the company will approve that drug, and I'm sure anyone willing to give you a benzo will write for Buspar. It is available generically and its not expensive, but again I do not think you will enjoy the experience and I do not think it will help your issues.

Speaking of your issues I hope you are just messing with us, because your last post is either for kicks, or is a little whoah for me.

I hope everything works out for you

I may have misunderstood something along the way here, but I thought these meds were to be taken the same time every day. Driving OTR, "bed time" is a huge variable.
