Sitting in Carteret, NJ. Saw the NYC skyline as I skipped by the Holland Tunnel, and waiting for morning.

I think I can speak for the entire WIIS family... I'm very, very sorry to hear that.

I can see your perspective. Unfortunately I'm a "plan for the worst, Hope for the best" kinda person.

But the weather patterns have been changing. Also societal demands on the utilities have changed. Not everybody has fireplaces to get them through a no power situation.

I think the time between significant events is getting shorter, and the fine folks in charge would be wise to notice the change and adjust plans and upgrades accordingly.

That I do completely agree with, but our species isn't well known for collectively preparing for events. Individuals, and even small groups do well, but when our group becomes so large it's hard to get a consensus for action.

I have hope that the regions affected by this storm will reflect on the events and recalculate their way forward.

Heck even the feds started looking at redefining proper forest management after the fires in Cali this summer. Sounds like they are at least talking to land stewards like the tribes. Also sounds like fire fighters are getting a seat at the table. Of course the ECO-terrorist block may have to take a diminished roll going forward.

I'm going to stop there before I get to political by voicing my disdain for the Sierra club and their parasitic sympathizers.
