I couldn't imagine doing anything else now that i got a taste of trucking. I grew up around the industry but I wasn't planning on being a part of it. Did construction after high school for a few years and wasn't really sure what direction in life to go. My 21st birthday came around and my dad suggested i get my cdl and the rest is history.

@Scooter Jones always liked reading your stuff, especially your spread sheets. You gave me some perspective about the opposite side of the country. Good luck to you and your son. Never in a million years did i think my dad and i would be partners. When i got my cdl my dad was a company driver in the oilfield with no intentions of owning another truck again Lol. 2x he's said that but always comes back.

Same here. My grandparents and parents were in trucking since the 40’s. They all got out right around the year 2000. I was 15 or 16 at that point. Never did I think I’d be in trucking but guess I was hooked from an early age and just didn’t know it. Or, it was bred into me. Not sure.

I second that in regards to scooter. He’s a good man and I’m thankful to have come across him. May his next venture be full of promise and profits!

It's funny my dad and i both started our driving careers in NYC doing back breaking manual labor haha. Him doing grocery related stuff and me doing food. From the sounds of it he had the more intense job. Coffee in 132 LB and 178 LB bags. Imagine throwing a whole load of that with your helper.

I wish i could of met my grandpa, he died a year before i was born

My Grandpa on the trucking side passed back in 2017. I didnt appreciate the insight at the time.I never asked my Grandpa, Grandma(2018), or even my Dad about trucking. You know, I can do this on my own right?. I have done it on my own, but wish looking back id have not been so stubborn. The first many years I was open people would assume it was my parents or grandparents company. That sorta fueled the fire and pissed me off to be honest. Even today, a tire company went by my Mom/Dads looking for my Dad because he assumed it was the old days. Sometimes us kids and grandkids are so eager to get out from under the past that we miss things. Sorta rambling I know....

Shoutout to my Grandpa. That man always was so positive and came up through the depression. He was always blown away what I was doing. Wish he was still around to see things today.

I was the only the first trucker in my family, company driver to o/o leased to jones motor, lancer division. You could make more money by mistake then than can today on purpose. After deregulation I went back to company driver, the company had an MC number 1. Different times back then, a lot has changed, some for the better and some for the worse. I don't miss the job but I do miss a lot of the people I worked with.
