Well I'm in lovely Odessa, TX......again. Picked up a Kraft load that has to be kept at 68 degrees. Saw that and knew that the idiotic god of temp. control would have a cow and I would have to fax it in. It did and I did. Went to the one just north of the Pilot in Ft. Worth. Had a 24 hr window that I didn't catch when reading the load info but it was rdy when I got there. Unfortunately, since its a live unload and its scheduled for 2200 tonight.........

My preplan is to pick up in Armadillo and head to FL. Just hope the 2nd stop ain't Miami!!!!! Wonder how much sitting I'll be doing on either end?

Happy birthday 1 bad boy and enjoy it. Soon you'll be my age and I'm only 39..........and holding.

Give us a wave as you pass through! 1bad got deadhead to Miami one time waaaaay back when. Most of the the time they would dead head back from Jacksonville to Atlanta to pick something up. Sounds like your getting good miles though enjoy them while they last.:biggrin_25523:

It's been a month or more since I have posted here, and it's taken awhile to catch up. Since I was here last I've completed a 160 hr CDL program here in Phoenix and got my class A along with Haz-Mat, doubles/triples and tanker endorsements. Even got a new passport issued as well. After flaming out at WVC last July, I feel somewhat vindicated.
Trying to find a decent trucking co. that will hire inexperienced drivers is proving to be a formidable challenge! For those going to Central's school, at least you know that you'll have a job upon successful completion. It seems that many co.'s aren't hiring from the Phoenix area, or even the 11 western states for that matter. My best bet so far is with a well respected carrier that has a terminal in the Atlanta area. The problem is this co is mainly hiring from the Atlanta area only. Has to do with freight lanes and home time I suppose. Home time is not an issue with me. My wife and I have been married for 42+ yrs, and in the past I have had to live/work out of state for a year or more at a time.
__QUESTION for the group: Would there be a problem with using a mailing address (PO box or mail n' more type) in order to transfer my CDL to Ga? My recruiter says that as long as I have an address in their hiring area with an accompaning CDL from that state, I could be considered for employment. But living outside their hiring area they won't even look at my app. I don't need to actually have a place to live, the truck will provide that. And I can survive withour seeing my family while I get that all important first year or two under my belt.
Just curious if anyone has faced this kind of situation before, and what your thoughts/suggestions might be.

Living in GA all my life I know the state will not issue even an ID must less a CDL with out proof of residency ie. you have to show them a utlity bill in your name they will not put po box's on an id. Only physical addresses! Sorry to burst your bubble but you will need to get a residence here in order to accomplish what you are trying to do. :biggrin_2551:

When we got our CDL permits in UTAH we had to use the address of the terminal eventhough we were from out of state. So that may be an option, use the address of the company terminal.

    Poobah Thanks this.
