Cut it off close to the that tank, recovering max length. Then calculate to splice the used tube to your tank stub with hose. Lots of filler systems utilize hose as OEM so should be available and legal.

 

I must say there is very few sounds more relaxing then listening to the engine working uphill and the soothing rhythm of the chains clattering against the road. It is almost a religous experience.
