Growing up there we had 1 that survived to the early 80's in what would become silicon. Most were closed and the building purchased to become shoe stores in the '70s.

I remember looking them up a few years back and there was only one store in the state, near the military base near Santa Barbara. It was only surviving because of the military people.

never really cared for DD might be, because of my CA upbringing we always had good doughnuts

 

To me, all the national brands are nowhere near as good a donut as a bakery in my hometown sold. When that lady died that ran the bakery I seen cops cry! They were that good!

 

Thanks. One more reason to not eat those things or anything else that just sits out there in the open for god knows how long.
