you have to be with in 50 miles .... they pay layover in 12 hr increments and the first 12 don't count .... i.e. after 24 hrs you will get 12 paid...after 36 hrs you will get paid 24 etc.

I could be in error, I don't have a DRG with me to double check, but I thought it was 30 miles, and layover was paid in 12 hour increments, after 24 hours, so you don't get anything till 36 hours had passed.

I, too, am on a Friday to Monday run that I could've done in a day and a half, but I'd run up against the 70 if I did it any faster. Running well otherwise. For the first time, I've been in a traffic jam that had helicopters following it... caused by a police chase on the way to Ellenwood. Good times. If you claim layover during a run, you have to sit within 50 miles of the consignee. So, if your consignee is in Seattle you'll be sitting for free.

Well I have learned today that everyone that was in RDTC with me is now quitting Roehl because NONE of them have been given home time when asked for or when promised! Roehl's tactics to use people who come to their school because times are tough and we all want to keep our homes and support our families will be the down fall of that company.
As far as no negative posts....I think people who leave are just so #### glad to be out of there they put it all behind them.

Roehl is going to emplode on itself....I think they are starting to already...drivers are getting the wind whistleling up their rear and are getting tired of the low pay and the running ragged....so out of my class of 6 only one will be left employed with Roehl....although he had an accident on his 5th day out with his truck...but he is an Honor Roll employee and is making Roehl money from the gov while he gets his salary.

I was upset when I left there and they way they treated me with such apparent unfairness...but now I think I should consider myself lucky.

ROEHL IS JUST A TRAINING COMPANY WHO MAKES MONEY OFF OF DESPARATE PEOPLE IN THESE HARD TIMES...ROEHL IS MAKING MONEY OFF OF THEIR SCHOOL AND RUNNING PEOPLE IN TRUCKS THAT DON'T WORK UNTIL THEY QUIT....SO NO BENEFITS ARE EVER EARNED OR PAID....UNEMPLOYMENT IS NEVER GOTTEN BECAUSE OF THE QUITTING OR TERMINATIONS.

Mr Roehl must know what is going on.

drg 'layover' - Layover will be paid at a rate of 60 dollars per day. Layover is paid in 1/2 day increments after 24 hours. Periods of less than 24 hours are not considered layover and will not be paid. After 24 hours, you will be paid 1/2 day layover and after 36 hours, you will receive 1 full day layover. Always contact your fleet mgr for approval before requesting layover pay on your trip report.

For you being 61 you sure whine alot. Let it go and move on. I have been with Roehl over 2 years and yeah I get pissed sometimes. Man up corky and move on. Roehl didn't feel you would be a safe driver and they let you go. Now you need to let it go. Why can't you accept your part in the whole thing. You couldn't back up and they sent you packing. Trucking ain't for everyone. Please let it go, every post I read that you write you just seem like a bitter old man.

I think there is a lot of truth to what a few people are saying here. I am very cautious about looking at Roehl any more now...Promises made and not kept. Drivers counting on promises only to be told "oops" or "sorry".
I met with the recruiter in Marshfield. She could sell ICE to an ESKIMO. But, as long as your a sharp individual you can read right through them....
She sure drinks the Roehl "kool-aid" and if you repeat something often enough, I think you start believing it.

    Like George Costanza said...
"It's not a lie if YOU believe it"

I have friends that drive for Roehl and they are happy. Been there many years though..so maybe that's a factor...

That has happened to me on a number of occasions. If I moved to get closer than I would screw up the layover waiting period. If I stayed where I was I would be farther than the 50 miles.

You say that you have friends that drive for Roehl and they are happy, yet you wanna get all concerned because a few disgruntle drivers out of 1300 say they are bad. Well I have been at Roehl for over 2 years and they are fine. If you go into this thinking they are lying then every time you have a concern it will be magnified. Your not even a employee yet and you are dogging a recruiter. So what are these specific etched in stone promises that you are claiming Roehl broke. This is transportation not a 9-5 job. Freight is not always 100% where you want it when you want it. Roehl will always try to get you home on your off days but freight ain't always going there. Then what are you gonna do? Quit, run away and write a bunch of stuff about them on this site. One thing all you new drivers seem to think is that you deserve the best runs and the best trucks. Roehl has 100's of drivers that have been there longer than you. With senority comes the better equipment and better loads. It is like that in any business. I just love to see drivers crying because they are sitting for several hours during EVOIII or there first few months. How would you as a driver feel if you had devoted several years to Roehl and some newbie was getting treated better than you, better runs, equipment and what not. Earn you stripes then you can ##### until then stick a pacifier in your mouth and work hard to earn the respect you demand.
