I must be misunderstanding something, you want to move as opposed to retest?
Wasted Thyme Thanks this. -
Yes, moving is very minor for me, However retesting is taking 6 months. I was not able to renew due to family medical issues.

I just want to consider options... If I can go and just take a written test, that would enable me to return to driving faster, I can then transfer back to wherever I want at a later date. Covid has backed up the road tests here in NJ...

Many states will upgrade your expired cdl back to a cdl if you get a DOT physical and take that to the DMV.
States have different timelines on that, but some are a year or more.
Move to Florida or South Dakota. They're the easiest as far as I know, plus you'll no longer have to pay state income taxes with a cdl from those states.Suspect Zero Thanks this. -
Good Advice, I"m trying to find which states require a renewal of more than a Year? any suggestions? Its not on many state websites, I guess I would have to call each state.

Nope, doesn't look like South Dakota will work for you:
~
South Dakota drivers must complete a CDL renewal before their licenses expire. CDLs are valid for five years in the state, and expire on the driver’s birthday. Motorists may renew their CDLs up to 180 days prior to their dates of expiration. South Dakota does not have a CDL expiration grace period, unlike some states. -
Looks like Florida is out also. Can get CDL license renewal within 1 year of their license expiration date.
`
Individuals with commercial driver’s licenses, or CDLs, need to complete a CDL renewal just like any other driver. Commercial drivers can hold their licenses for several years before having to renew. They can get CDL license renewal within 1 year of their license expiration date. Florida drivers are only permitted to renew in person at a local DMV office. They need several valid documents in order to successfully renew. These documents include a current medical examiner’s certificate, background check and proof of residency. -
Do you plan to go back to full time driving?

North Carolina has a grace period of one year, but you're already over that.
"The CDL expiration grace period for most CDL types is 1 year."
