Scheduling multiple appointments at different located DMV's for endorsement tests?

I want to get my Hazmat endorsement. I'm in North Carolina and our DMV's are all by appointment only (which sucks). That means everything is backed up and you can't schedule an appointment less than 2 weeks out at the minimum.

My question is for those who have gotten their endorsements (doesn't matter which ones) during COVID where your states DMV was by appointment only - Can you schedule an appointment at different DMV's or maybe even the same DMV but on different days and then just cancel them if you pass the test, so you don't have to wait 2 weeks to keep retaking the test? Will the DMV call you out on this or does the DMV website not allow you to schedule multiple appointments at different locations (or even at the same location) on different days?

For example let's say I schedule a DMV appointment in Charlotte one day, in Winston Salem the next day, in Greensboro the next day, etc. etc. That way if I fail the hazmat test I can just keep going to the DMV every day until I pass it like I did with my tankers and doubles endorsements (before COVID and before appointments only) instead of having to wait 2 weeks or more to retake the test if I fail it.

Anybody done this?

Or maybe I could schedule an appointment at the same DMV location and just schedule an appointment Monday - Friday at the same location?

 

Also - Anybody know if in North Carolina for the hazmat endorsement if I have to pass the written test first or if I have to do the fingerprinting and background check first? I found this website that list each state and says whether or not you have to do the background or the written test first. I don't know if it's accurate or not as some states it lists a citation but for North Carolina no citation is given and I couldn't find anything about the specific order in NC on an internet search either. I'm going to try to get in touch with the DMV tomorrow but a month ago I gave up after half an hour of being on hold.

So just an update in case this question gets asked again - At least in North Carolina you are allowed to schedule a maximum of 2 appointment times at once while the DMV's are appointment only due to COVID. I tried to schedule the 3rd appointment (in case I failed the Hazmat test twice) and it said maximum of 2 scheduled appointments at a time.

The thing is when you go the NC DMV website, you don't create a username or anything like that so it's not like you're logged in. Meaning that they are either going off of your name or your telephone number or perhaps both. Most everything seems booked out 4-5 weeks in advance.

Luckily the background check appointments have plenty of spaces and it's only a 1 day wait, which is awesome! So I'll do that Thursday.

Spoke with someone at the DMV (after holding for 45 minutes..........) who said "to the best of her knowledge" I need to get fingerprinted first, pay the fee, submit to the background check. And if the background check is still pending when I go to take my Hazmat written test then I should still be able to take the test because she said the background can take up to 45 days to come back. I'll probably ask the folks on Thursday about that too when I go do my fingerprinting.
