Had a load today that I was 71000 gross. Question on axle weights on a spread axle flatbed. I know I can be 20k per axle, but is my total group still 34k? Trying to figure out if I was over on the trailer even though my axle weights were ok.
10840 front axle
26000 drives
17000 front trailer
18000 rear trailer
I was about 35k on the trailer. I know with a tandem I would be over, but couldn't remember on a spread.
Axle weights

I believe 40k allowed on the spread ...but more knowledgeable guys told me its possible to overweight them even being under 40 on axles and below 80 overall
I think you should be ok with your numbers
I think if one of the trailer axles 21 - its already violationLast edited: Mar 8, 2021

A 10 foot spread is 2 20K axles.
You can be legal on all axles (12, 34, 20, 20) and be over 80K total.Dino soar, 86scotty, Saltyoldone and 2 others Thank this. -
According to your math you can run 86k when registered for 80truckdriver31 Thanks this. -

That’s where having a spread is advantageous. You could be 12-30-20-20 and be legal. You can’t put 40k on a closed spread tandem.

Axle weights vs bridge weights.
86scotty and truckdriver31 Thank this. -
If it’s a 48ft trailer you’d bridge out at about 84k gross in a bridge state. Need at least a 51ft trailer to be able to bridge 86k gross if my memory is correct. Useless info, but I’m bored. Lol.
