My only comments are that in the choice of starter companies Roehl may not be the best choice....At least not for 'everyone'. Maybe things worked out for you.
As far as a 'few' disgruntled drivers...more are popping up each week here....thats not a good sign at all.
And, if it's not IN WRITING - don't believe it. They can say all they want but put it in writing - then I listen...
Recruiters are salespeople. Thats all they are...![]()

I don't like any company that uses people for its own gain and does not appreciate ALL of their employees.
I own my own tractor and went back to driving for the broker I worked for before. I KNOW how to drive! Crete Carrier was my employer before I went into business for myself.
I wanted to sell my tractor and use the money to help keep my house out of foreclosure....and Roehl seemed like a GREAT company because there was nothing negative on here. Now I know why....current employees are "warned" and ex-employees are just grinding an ax and nothing is true that we say.Last edited: Nov 22, 2009

(EVO1 successful. EVO2 first trainer did not trip plan...main priority was getting someplace to have "a few beers"...I asked to be taken off truck. EVO 2 second trainer marvelous trainer...learned so much from him...final testing in Marshfield my workbook was not even looked at...my driving after 8000 miles on the road that I personally drove with trainers was not "good enough' and my backing did not meet the "final testing criteria" of Roehl.)
You stated right there that your backing didn't meet Roehls criteria and they let you go. I only know you by what you write....and you wrote that. -
I had trouble with the blind side back Steve had me do, I avoid blind side backing at all cost and this was part of his test. I cannot tell you how many people have said they did not have to blind side back for their final test. Even the State doesn't require a blind side back...none of my trainers did either!
Oh and if I do have to blindside back I will get out of my rig and ask another driver to spot me or someone who works at the consignee. If that is not possible then I am goaling as much as needed to safely back into the spot. -

What are the miles like at Roehl? Is it slow or decent? Is their a lot of hanging around and waiting between loads going on there too?
-
I've done this for a year now and have been to each coast, a couple of miles from the Mexican border, and all the way up to Montreal. Every three months I get a statement showing how much is in my 401k. I have not signed up to be a trainer and am not really considering it, at least for this winter. Then I come online here and someone who doesn't work here tells me my company just trains, doesn't do OTR, and doesn't issue benefits. It's almost like being told I don't exist.

1 year and you can be a trainer?

I think it's 6 months. They've put an ad for it in my voicemail.
