I should probably know this but anyway.
Tomorrow I pick up my assigned truck from my new employer. He's allowing me to park the truck within 30 miles of my home because it's on a Highway they regularly run. Headquarters, where I'll pick up the truck, is 120 miles away. So I'll finish up the paperwork for my employment & log onto our ELD for the first time. This is my second job in my career & so far I've only ran paper logs so the ELD will be a new experience.
The refer will be empty.
He's allowing me to park the truck near my home for my convenience.
Is trip from headquarters to my predetermined parking location PC?
Is this considered personal conveyance when parking at home?

Fmcsa says it's legal. The stickler is company policy. Make sure what it is before moving the truck in pc mode.

The restriction on PC about advancing to a load are caput. As long as you are empty and not driving for the company, then you don't have to start and end anywhere in particular.
Coffey and slow.rider Thank this. -
The reg's are 1 thing.... company policy it another...
Check with the companyCoffey, 86scotty, slow.rider and 1 other person Thank this. -
Often times, a company policy could be stricter than law. I would check with your own company for any questions about usage because at mine, PC misuse is the quickest way to get fired.Last edited: Mar 10, 2021
