So as far as extra board guys, when you lay down for the night to you clean your whole truck out or can you leave stuff like GPS/mounts/etc. in?

I thought I read sometimes terminals will grab a extra board drivers truck if one is needed? Which AFAIK my truck is technically assigned to me.

I always left my stuff in the truck. I only had my truck taken 1 time in 2 years

Lol. It's just too easy where I'm at and too flexible. I can call out 1 day a week for a month straight. Nothing happens. I can start anytime between 4 and 7pm. The nap time every night is the best part. In a brand new 2020 sleeper truck assigned to me. I'm lazy. It fits perfectly. Easiest job I ever had. Hell I'm not 100% sure I even wanna go to Dayton! If I need get stuff for the house I skip nap #1 and bobtail to Walmart grab what I need then I can go straight home in morning. This job has made me more lazy!

    And no 055!!!

I work the P&D side since I like to drive a solar powered truck. I’m curious on the extra board side though, do you guys somewhat get to make your own schedule? Like what if you just can’t sleep in the day to run the graveyard shift?

Apparently the guy I'm replacing was doing this.

Central was not amused. From what I understand they starved him out.

YMMV and all that. You know how drivers talk...

You get a start day. You start that same day every week. Its all night time on line haul. You may get lucky back your time up on occasion but when you lay down at a terminal that finishes up late it messes that up. Sometimes you lay down at 6am and they don't start you until 10pm. I have ran till noon before.

But days on extraboard is rare.

Wasn't for me. I ran days most the time I was there on the board... 90% of the time no lie. That's why we rarely talked on the phone despite me having your number for almost 2 years LOL.

Same here, I usually start when I'm ready each day, after a nice breakfast and all the morning drivers are out of the terminal. I never start on my assigned start day, but that is because I stay out 2 to 3 months at a time. I never get called back to my barn to cover a run, Central owns me and I run wild for them.

I am cool with central and my dispatchers. When I have time, I used to just call them and tell them I'm ready to leave immediately.
