I am currently in the process in researching various companies to work for when I get my CDL, and so far the only one that want to talk to me is Werner and they are willing to pre-hire me before I go for my CDL.
I know I do not want to stay at Werner forever and I would eventually like to get into owner operator, but move specialised loads, either flatbeds or tankers, perferably fuel since I work with it on a daily bases and I am already trained on transporting and transfering Kerosine products such as Jet fuel. How would I get from van driver to specialised loads? When I get my CDL I plan on getting Hazmat Endorsed.

Baack Thanks this.

Thanks for the advice, The reason I said fuel because it is all I know. I do drive a tanker truck, but limited on a AOA ramp and a quarter mile of a public road, so there is really no experience there other weaving a 10k gallon truck safely though aircrafts.

Don't take training because of any hopes from a pre-hire . Pre-hires men absolutely nothing . It only means they know you are not a convicted felon with 10 DUI's that would automatically cause you to be rejected . Many students with prehires never make it to orientation . -
O/O in gasoline hauling are rare. Most likely because of the 2 million bond they have to put up. It just depends on where you're at. But you've got the right idea and shooting for the best is always the way to go. You can expand a little and look into hauling radioactive material. The stuff is going to be hauled one day.

You're right they've been hauling them for years but when Yucca MTN opens there will be a flood to get all the highly radioactive stuff from each power plant to the MTN. I know most of the route will be by rail but it's got to get to the trains. Just something to look at. -

Hey Dark Reaper. Send an ap to Wiley Sanders in Troy, AL. You will need to take Hazmat but I am starting orientation on Monday. Just got my CDL last week.

Pre-hire means nothing. Until you roll out of the terminal in an assigned truck, you are just an applicant.
