Hello drivers,
I have a quick question on the TA in Candler, NC. My wife and I are full time RVer's and will be spending a few months in the Asheville, NC area and wanted to know if anyone has been to this TA and the Country Pride in general? I know a lot of you do not like the TA's but being an old school driver from the 1960's to 2011 when I retired I have always had a preference to the older truck stops.
When I started driving I went to Mom & Pop, Pure Oil, Union 76 and Truckstops of America before they were TA as we know them today. Being as TA is closing most Country Prides in favor of fast food only or possibly IHOP nationwide like Pilot did to Flying J with Denny's I wanted to visit some of the old world truckstop restaurants.
I know they have closed some of my favorite ones in Wildwood, Fl., Wytheville, Va., Richmond, Va. and Marianna, Fl. to name a few. I want to see as many as I can before TA changes completely or goes away all together. Thanks for any input drivers, I appreciate it. Safe trucking to all.

@navypoppop I saw this on the Overdrive website and I thought it would interest you. It's about a postcard history of some old stops in their heyday.

Don't waste your time at this location it's mostly paid parking, a pia to get in and out of and an accident waiting to happen.

I have quite a few books on truckstops from the past and present. Your pictures, I've never seen before. Reminds me of riding with my Dad back in the 50's.bzinger Thanks this. -

I'll have to agree with you based on Google Earth and Bzinger's comment. I'll pop in quick for lunch if I can find a parking space for the 5th wheel.bzinger Thanks this. -
I was at that TA a couple of weeks ago. The Country Pride closes at 9 now. I arrived at 11 and snagged the last free parking space. It's so hard to find decent food at night after Covid. I've mostly given up on TA/Petro because they close their restaurants so early.
