To me it reads like a bottom feeder on a fishing expedition. No way any sane person could give a quote on such limited information. Probably looking for some novice O/O because even the megas have turned them down.

I'd get the weight first.

 

So 5 loads, assume 5 trucks to service it reliably, maybe double the trailers
2x a reasonable rate to cover the eventualitys where you have to deadhead it, and inevitable delays

Assuming theyre steady and you wanted to build a brand new buisness on it, new equipment every 6 years, 5 drivers....

6k a load? And up that to 7k at asking time

I'm completely guessing here based on a lot less data than i have to make an actual educated guess on.

It depends on how long would they tie up the trailer.

 

First there is what I would charge and there is what the market will pay.

that load all day long can be covered for $1700 on the high end to $1200 on the low. It’s 621 miles.

These guys saying 3k to 7k are smoking some good stuff if they’re talking each load and crazy low if they’re talking for all 5.

 

You're just one of those guys driving the price down. I didn't even look at dat before I gave my number, you made me look it up on dat.

 

1. 625 miles google maps, no one is running us 40 all the way down indiana, not on a next day. that will definitely drive wear and tear up and mpg down
2. Tolls
3. It wont be guaranteed covered and delivered next day 5 days a week even at your price.
4. 2.72 a mile at your high end counting 0 deadhead BEFORE you broker or cover any other costs?
Not to mention youre dropping a trailer that they may or may not be moved around by receiver? And those guys wont tear anything up im sure. 5. then what, sit a day till you can get it again?

Thats a 2 day load costing 50 cpm fuel.
2.5 x a week, driver at 55 cpm (assuming 0 deadhead and reloading back north with no delays gives a driver 1k a week (essentialy 3x 625))
Overhead on your truck is what? (I would want at least to cover replacement at a new truck per 6 years, so 165k at 10% interest is 40 cpm payment)
Trailer, 10 cpm
Tires, 2.5 cpm
Insurance? 16 cpm

Thats at 5 loads a week, 52 weeks a year. AND assumes your backhaul is never under 1.73

But that blank i left, yeah thats taxes, 1200 a run puts you out of buisness at tax time or any problem. 1700 puts you out of buisness if you have a truck issue AT tax time.

do you enjoy not making money?
Or do you just not care about your customer, vehicles, and or pay drivers nothing?

I wouldnt do it for under 2k a mile for more than 1 load personally.

Understand I'm just a lowly company driver... However, were I in a situation with 2 trucks at my disposal I wouldnt touch it for anything less than $3k.

The reason I give that amount is that the only way you can reliably cover that with 2 trucks is to deadhead back. AND you will need good drivers to cover that kind of distance every day, good drivers dont come cheap. If I had 3 or 4 trucks I would consider cutting that quote down to $2k, because with 3 or 4 trucks you would have time to find, pick, and deliver a back haul, 4 to 5 trucks would enable you to make a pretty decent tri-haul out of the trip which may pay better depending on the other 2 lanes.
