Every single increase per battery is because they just make them bigger. It'd be funny if it wasn't so sad that people hang on "Technology-king's" every fib.

If this tech is proven to be true all will change.

New battery could fire up electric cars in 5 minutes

How are they going to be able to have megawatt chargers everywhere? That's what would be required. And the kind of power involved makes fires more likely as well. That's the problem with battery tech. The more energy, the more devastating the discharge. Current batteries are still much less energy dense than gasoline, but a fire in batteries is worse.

it’s doable, I’m gonna let them figure things out but The new battery does look promising.

Software changes allowing you to use the reserve that was there specifically to offset li-ion battery aging.

The stated goal for energy density improvement from Tesla is 50% by 2024.

Now, granted, Musk is not known for meeting his projections on time, but he DOES tend to make it happen.

So even if it’s going to be 2026 or 7, I would think that 50% increase in less than a decade is a pretty dramatic rate of improvement.

that’s not counting things like GM’s investment in Li-metal batteries, or VW’s (and others) research into solid state batteries.

With as much research as is going on, there will be steady improvement

Who needs to drive 600 miles none stop ? If the Tesla truck can go 500 miles. That would be more then enough time to spare. You drive 300 miles stop for 45 minute break. Plug in and recharge then keep going. The savings on maintenance would probably lots of money vs a regular diesel truck. Tesla was saying the truck would have 1,000,000 mile warranty at one point. Look how Tesla put in their own charging stations. Today you can drive cross country with electric car. It probably won't be very difficult to put in truck charging stations at truck stops.

Look at Space X how they can land solid rocket engine to be reused. NASA could never do that plus the technology to even do that was not around. Today we are also looking at satellite internet cheaper or the same price as cable TV. $100 a month for unlimited internet from satellite is pretty amazing.

They did this on a commercial level?

No, why are you arguing so hard about this ?
