I am in year 6 completely on my own and I am not sure how much I have left in me. Between mechanics and tire shops I feel like am just working to pay them and myself vs building a company.
My insurance is up in June and I once again find myself asking why am I doing this.
If not for my genuine love of flatbedding and hauling cool stuff to cool places I really think I would have quit already.
It's not the money... my numbers are good but man it is a never ending battle to stay ahead of the game!
My biggest biggest gripe BY FAR is the fact our roads friggin murder tires and because they are so expensive I find myself tolerating a bad one here and there which irritates my body.
If I learned anything so far it is that you had better watch every single tire you ever buy get mounted and see it spin on a machine first. Once you leave you are screwed. If they say you can't be in the shop then walk the hell out and find another shop immediately.
Props to ya'll in this for over a decade or more.

Then all Cooper roadmaster drives. One or more of them is not 100% perfect and I feel it. That and the fact that they are a knobby tire make them feel like crap but I am stuck with them. They are like new and will probably live a
long time.Last edited: Mar 17, 2021

Went back to paper logs, funny how trucks prefer some tires over others.

The only thing that will satisfy me is doubling my rates but I am not sure I would get much work. LOL.
For example I just ran 6500lbs from Cleveland OH to Bethany CT for $2400.00. That used to feel good but now the only way it would put a smile on my face is 5k.....which isn't going to happen.
Put me back in I.T. and even making 45k is going to feel just fine.....because the work is so lame and easy....which ironically is why I hate it. I am a active hyper person and I actually love tossing my 100lb tarp on stuff! I never mention that to brokers though!Badmon and feldsforever Thank this. -
But like I said I am stuck with these for a while.feldsforever and Capacity Thank this. -
