I'm not sure with RE West but I swear I read that you need to leave the truck at the terminal on hometime. That ruled me out living in Wisconsin.

I didn't talk directly to them but read the above someplace. It looks and sounds like they want you close to a drop yard or terminal. It has been quite awhile ago so maybe it's changed.

The 'commitment' with Swift is really only 1 year. After training, they will deduct $80 a week from your check to pay for your training for 1 year. But, they pay you $40 a week for 2 years. After 1 year, whatever is owed for training is forgiven. So, in effect, the first year costs you $40 a week, but during the 2nd year you'll get an extra $40 a week. Net result is that at the end of 2 years, you've been reimbursed everything you paid for the training. But, after only one year your training is paid for.
Also, if you leave before the 1st year is up, there are several companies who will pay your training for you. Several folks I went to the Swift Academy with, didn't stick around very long after training and the companies they went to, picked up and paid their training tab with Swift. I believe it was Werner and Knightmthat did that.
Lastly, it isn't really a commitment per say. If you leave before a year, you just have to reimburse Swift for your training. You sign a contract to repay your training, but there is no contract that you have to stay employed for a year with them.Chinatown and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this.
