I’m reminded of when I worked Local. Always a Joker in the bunch. One Driver saw his Buddy hiding behind a Building, slumped over the wheel, stealing a nap. ( I.e. stealing time, a Fireable offense under the Teamster contract). So he noses up to him, and lays on the air horn. Guy wakes up, freaking out. For a few seconds thought he was a goner. That’s some twisted humor. They were both old Guys, it’s a wonder he didn’t have a heart attack. They were a rough bunch. Working 70 hrs a week in 5 days for years like a Slave does that to a Person. Dock workers were worse. 100 hrs a week, some slept in their cars. Miserable Life. But making killer paychecks. Poor Guys worked all winter without heat, no dock doors at all on the huge terminal. Had quite a few suicides, even a couple Drivers. Higher than average anyways.

Indiana turnpike is 40 and change . Same with ohio turnpike.. Nys thruway i90 is 300 from end to end. Mass turpike i90 to conneticut is 28 dollars. Not sure of pa turnpike, that is easily avoidable.

Saturday morning I was asked by a friend to go over to Smithfield with him to look at a Tractor he was looking to buy. On the way back we crossed the James River on the James River Bridge and as we got close to Newport News the Aircraft Carrier Enterprise CVN 65 came into view at the HII shipyard. This carrier has been decommissioned and waiting to be scrapped. I know several people that served on this carrier and looking at it basically tossed as junk made me sad.

That is the way of the world, especially when it's government funded. If the steel had no value, and the reactors didn't need special handling, you can bet it would have been A.I.P. and simply sunk.

If my memory is correct the big E had 4 reactors. All 4 were cut out of it at HII several years ago.

So why do so many stepped decks have that crazy rake from the rear down to the front? I've seen them like that both loaded and unloaded.
