Needing to replace the 1 piece clutch brake between the BC III and 10 speed, in my Steiger tractor. Plenty room underneath to work, so what’s the best way to remove the old one without damaging the seal?

Torch or air hammer. I prefer torch.

I normally would use torch and air hammer. I have just seen a new idea. I have not tried it yet. But take a long 1/2 extention and cut a notch in the end so it fits over break. Then impact it with 1/2 gun. Its supose to be quick.

Watch a video, with a 1/2” extension that was notched for the brake removal. The style of brake that was removed, was the 2 piece, that used a roll pin to connect the halves. Not sure if that would work with a 1 piece brake. Other thing to note was, the video suggested not to use the 2 piece style, that hinges on one end and uses a plastic pin to fasten it closed. Guess which one I’ve already bought.

I think somebody makes some sort of jig that goes over or around the clutch brake and then allows you to use a drill bit to make a nice hole and then break it off.

I wouldn't worry to much about the different style of 2 piece. Just keep and extra on hand for when it breaks and falls off

I seen a pic of the jig you’re talking about and at the time they were several hundred bucks. If I knew a mechanic who had one, I may try to rent it from them but a little two steep for me to buy for just once in a great while.

Why are you replacing clutch brake anyway? Do you push your clutch in too far when you are coating to a stop? For an owner operator, clutch brake outlasts the clutch itself. I never use a 2 piece. Company drivers find every which way to wreck a clutch brake

Torch... If you know what you are doing you can cut it out without getting anything else (besides the brake) hot enough that you couldnt touch it with a bare hand.
