Becoming a owner operator

    You want to be an owner operator and STILL BE HOME OFTEN???? How do those go hand in hand? I'm not saying it's possible and you clearly know they industry after 10 years behind the road, anyway there also is a section for O/O on here also I believe, willing to bet TONS of answers and Help..Best of luck to you

    Don't know what kind of work you've been doing but just so you know sometimes those home daily driving jobs leave you home just enough to eat, shower and sleep. Especially as an O/O

    Other question is how much does insurance normally cost for a truck and trailer under O/O ?

    In another thread on the subject. News OO was quoted $3000.00 per month TRACTOR ONLY.

    Going to depend on what you are doing. If you stay within a 200ish mile radius it will be much cheaper than a guy doing OTR. No idea how anybody could afford 3000$ a month, that's just crazy

    Yea I was looking to do max 400 miles but try to be around NJ MD DE PA VA since rim coming out of Philadelphia

    I would lease up 1st. Get your feet wet & build up that bank account. Then when you feel comfortable reevaluate your options. If you want tanker and flatbed work, SJ transportation in Woodstown is a good place to start. For the most part everything is out & back with them. Never more than a night or two in the truck at a time. Or at least that’s how it was when i worked there back around 2010.
