I bought a truck and formed an LLC with my state, SC. I filed my 2290 using my EIN number. I think thats where I made a mistake I just want to use my SS number to get paid but the company Im leasing to says I have to use my EIN for pay cause I paid my 2290 using my EIN. Can I change my 2290 or my W9 to let me get paid with my SS number? I believe if I get paid through my EIN then I have do do payroll tax and such, which I dont want to do Plus its a higher tax amount using my EIN, I think? Any help would be appreciated. If this sounds confusing, how do ya think I feel LOL

You don't have to do payroll if you are single member/proprietor. Just fill 1040 for gross income and expenses.

Thanks for the reply So, I should just file taxes with everything under my name. I guess I really confused myself by making a company and registering it with the state. I should have gotten an EIN under my name and not the LLC name. Its confusing doing it by yourself with no help. Thanks again

I'm curious why you would ask as opposed to a tax professional, the IRS can be a real mother to deal with, you want the best advice you can get when dealing with them.

I figured I would get some opinions here and at some point have a consultation with a lawyer or acountant. I dont think it hurts to ask opinions of drivers on here that may have been through the same process. I hope I didnt offend anyone by asking a question that wasnt my intention, Thanks

I am not offended at all, I am truly curious, it's kinda like going to a dentist to get a wart removed.

I guess if I was a know it all like some people, I wouldn't be on here asking for peoples help and opinions. If I was gonna put up a fence around my property, I would ask opinions of friends and neighbors before I hired a ####### to rip me off.

That is how you view the collective experience of carrier and owner operators on this forum?

yep, I believe in using the correct tool for the job, a truck driver / owner operator is not a tax professional, just like I would not ask H&R Block for rates on a lane.
