Just for conversation sakes. Does anybody remember when the megafleets of today were smaller companies? We all here about how bad Swift, Werner, JB Hunt, CR England etc. etc are, but was there a time when they were ok companies. Maybe even good? Lets hear it.

Here is what I can Remember....Swift has always been screwed up. Werner used to be all cabovers and was respectable. J.B. hunt didn't even used to have a am/fm radio in the truck and then they started a flatbed division for a while and were buying conventionals Internationals with twin stacks to draw drivers.
Anyone remember DTI ( direct transit), PST, Builders Transport or my favorite Schneider where I started and was running coast to coast at 55 mph even down hill burning up the brakes to stay under 55 with no jake so I could earn bonus.Last edited: Nov 29, 2009

SOCAL... then you probably remember IML out of salt lake city? are we dating ourselves lol?

I know of them but they are a little before my time I started in 1992. But I think I am getting ready to fall to the same fate as IML since I am currently employed by USF Reddaway owned by YRC. I used to be a USF Bestway Driver..
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Can anyone remember Schneider Transport yes transport not National. Schneider Transport was union and they slowly got fazed out.

I remember when CR England was a good company with fast trucks...Now that's a long time ago!
There were 2 flatbed companies on the west coast that were good as well...One was called West Coast Truck Line and the other was called Mitchell Brothers. I haven't seen either one in years so I assume that they're gone. -

P.S. I know Schneider is still around but it isn't 55mph in a springride cabover with a couple spare throttle springs hanging off the seat frame and no more union drivers. -
