    I agree, idle kills them.

my second to last company ride was a 2016 389 with a paccar, got it new and put a few hundred thousand on it, bunk heater but no apu, I would bump the idle to 900 or so rpm and that truck was one of the few in the fleet that never had a problem with the system, I always bump the idle when I get out of a truck for almost anything

Oil service drain? 50k? That long hurts em in the long run. Sure 300k 400k even 500k you prob won't notice it but that second buyer sure will. 20k max is more like it especially with the soot some produce. That's why a lot won't even consider em

Same even with the old trucks ^^^^ i bump it to 900-1000 if I idle for any length of time

I haven't paid attention to the milage interval on oil changes. However, due to the nature of warranty issues, I doubt the interval is outside of what is required on the warranty. I had to have a repair done on my truck about 2 months ago (2019 VNL 760, DD13, had about 270k miles at the time) at a Volvo dealer and it was covered under warrenty.

Cascadias are specced with semi-synthetic oil. 50k is factory recommended interval. I think they want like 10k or 15k interval with conventional oil.

Swift oil change interval is 50,000 miles... most of us have gotton 3 or more oil changes in that time frame

I would not run 50k with oil made by god himself and christened by his son . Oil and filters are cheap compared to replacing engine parts

I think it's a coin toss because almost all fleets these days run maintenance intervals to the max allowed by the warranty and dump the truck shortly before the warranty is up .
Factor in fleets with trainees and high turnover and its safe bet the truck has been abused .
But on the flip side there are not many low mile owner op trades around and the used market is hot now .

That's your choice. I'm not opposed to new technology. It bumps a car interval from 3k to 10k which is pretty much right in line with bumping a truck from 15k to 50k.

OK, as I said, I haven't paid attention to the intervals. I just take in when they tell me to. And, although it sounds like it, I'm not necessarily defending Swift trucks, or at least that was not my intent. I was just trying to expound upon my experiences with Swift maintenance. Since I have no desire to purchase my own truck, haven't looked into or thought much about what type of 2nd hand truck would be better to purchase. IF, I could purchase the truck I'm in after it goes out of Swift inventory , I might be tempted since I really like this truck. But, having the additional complexity and complications of a truck are not something I want regardless. I'll stay in my truck as long as they let me, and when it's time to get out of her, I'll let go. But, I'll always have very fond memories of this truck and the adventures I've had while driving her!
