You can take the test on your own as stated earlier, But unless you plan to go owner/op out of the gate. It would cost a small trucking company to much to insure you. Insurance is astronomical as it is .

Maverick does not require a school if you have a CDL, but I do not know if they are hiring students yet.

Where do you get the info on rates for small company insurance ? Can you quote rates for hiring a driver that went to school vs a driver that got a CDL without school ? Please substantiate your statement . I know several companies that helped employees get a CDL and insurance wasn't a problem .

I already had a CDL B that had my air brakes endorsement at the time
and I just did a pretrip on what I had brought all I did was read the rules and make them apply as all I needed was the combination test and for that little part it only has to meet a GVW over 26k and a trailer with a GVW over 10k my old gooseneck has a 21k gvw and the truck was 9k add them together 30k they met the criteria

They have since stuck in a represenitive vehicle clause in wyo but it could still be done

    LOL,
That is correct. It says it must be documented on paper. Need I say more?
Things have changed now, it's much harder to get below the radar these days.

Because with a Class B CDL you have 0 Class A experience. As you said you do not know how to drive. That being said you will have to go to a school because there are so many drivers out here right now that are qualified through a school why would companies even take a chance? Face it. You have 0 experience and have to put in you dues like everyone else does and start at the bottom. There is no fast tracking into OTR driving.
