Ive seen and experienced tootoo many Student Drivers that LOOK like their drunk in the way they drive.....maybe beer would STRAIGHTEN them up and drive normal....dunno. "Dont drink and drive,...the jockey box is to hard to reach". Im not as dunk as you stink I am.
"Polls are Stupid zero value" It got you in here to waste OUR time reading that. Wonder which one is "stupiditer"?
If I was a "spy", Id come up with better "catchem-if-I-can" tactics.....beleive me.

You're right. That was the most "lack of information" I've seen in awhile.
-
So far 1065 members have viewed the poll and 62 have voted. The average experience level of the voters is over 8 years. I see that as good, solid experience.
I'd like to ask, respectfully, for more participation. I've got a pretty good idea which way I'm going to go once I finish school but this poll is not about me - never has been. I did want to see, on paper so to speak, what drivers out there have to say without having to weed through umpteen thousand posts. I did a lot of "weeding" before I decided to offer the poll. Net result: more confusion!
My thanks to those drivers who have participated and to those who will before the poll ends December 7!

I drove for an O/O that had 5 trucks online. He had T R E M E N D O U S power with the Company cause he like all the O/O's can pull their trucks in a heartbeat if and when his drivers were being harassed or by neglegent behavor of his Dispatcher(imagine that). I "THINK" he meant "...........an O/O has the luxury of being his OWN boss ie........."steer your own ship and do it the way you want" the "do it the way you want" reasoning MEANS just what it means, except of course, not demands that are inhumanly impossible for a Company to meet.
"Nothing ventured, nothing gained" I think its possible to survive NOT losing your house AND birthday IF IF you know just WHAT THE HECK YOUR DOING before you jump in the pool and THEN discover the pools empty......S P L A T.The ""best"" and the ""safest"" approach I feel, is to FIRST gain experience driving then go that route. Twenty-twenty hindsight BLOWS. ........."has the best lease purchase program out there......HUH?...Wach you talkin bout Willis? If thats the case, then they must be the ONLY one out there with a Lease Program, cause they're NOT, no such animal. Sports, Religion, Politics, and Trucking, the "best" is a marketing gimmick word that has many a hole in it, not rock solid and never will be. Are you a Recruiter hopping around each Thread spreading the "word" with the power of suggestion?
Learn learn learn all you can, if you fail once you try, well at LEAST you just didnt SIT there for the next 6 months with your hands under your butt scared on what to do.

"When an O/O first signs on with a Company, he needs to have 2 million to make 1 million."Gears Thanks this. -

First off, as an O/O, it's up to YOU where when and how you run. If you only want to run 1,000 miles per week, you won't make it. With access to load boards, brokers and shippers, getting more miles isn't a problem, it's up to you.
Second, if you have to mortgage your house to become an O/O, don't become an O/O. I'm not saying you have to pay cash for everything, but you MUST have $$ in the bank to get started.
Let me reiterate from my original post.... becoming an O/O as an ultimate goal is MY philosophy. Obviously not one shared by you, and that's OK. -
My thoughts exactly.

You understood 97 Ford!!!! Be afraid, be very afraid. LOL! Truth is - I've printed out some of his replies to me and carried them around in my back pocket. I take 'em out when I'm between routes in my big yeller school bus. I read them for the good info in them and also for the humor. Have a good, safe and profitable day!
Oldnew....
P.S. I've gotten some multi-page disertations from a number of truckers. They go in the back pocket file too. -
