I guess lots of things have changed over the years. Not long ago Cobra was considered Junk except for the old made in the Philippines. Uniden was better than Cobra, till they merged assembly. Same radio. Etc. etc. I’ll say the best sounding radios I’ve ever heard were Galaxy 99 or a Ranger with a Road-king Mike. All the other stuff since then just sounds like a bunch of noise.

I really shouldn’t be commenting. I know very little about CB’s. Haven’t ran one in 13 yrs. I have a brand new Cobra 29, purchased 13?yrs ago for $59, an chrome Astatic noise cancelling mike, $29 and one Francis antennae,$15 And a new single coax. $130 total maybe? I plan on hooking it all up soon. Need a speaker, will have to find out about Wilson being wrong ohms. I just liked the way the chrome looked. Lol. A good small one out of site might be better anyways. Still learning. Not something I’m going to waste money on.

That's what I have hooked up to my Galaxy 979f. Great mic as far as I'm concerned.

Oh okay. I thought maybe you were referring to a modulation board, like an echo board. I didn't think about the swing kit.

My roadking mic hooked to the Stryker 497 sounds crystal clear if im in the other truck. I've lots of feedback from guys saying how clear it sounds

Other has cobra 29 and that sounds pretty decent.

Grab the 5" cobra s500 i think it is..Correct ohm rateing, its a 5" speaker, about 15 watts and decient sound...IF i did any modding to the speaker i would just put some stuffed toy stuffing in the back of it,not much just enough to fill in the space loosely..

I’ve heard that about the Wilson before. I wonder why they would make a speaker with the wrong ohms? I always thought Wilson was a good brand. Especially for antennas. They’re really a lot bigger than any I’ve had before. I’d like a small speaker. Rather have it tucked away out of site.

Chk specs for yourself and ask...Its not that it will make a major diff or anything but i think it lowers output of audio you hear.....I remember watching some car stereo vids and it was mentioned what happened but i cant remember exactly what now..
That big ole chrome speaker is as heavy as heck anyways and with so much plastics inside most cars n vans and the 18's as well its not as easy to mount..
I bought a bearcat 20(i think it is)and its clkse to the sound of the cobra but i preferr the cobra myself..
Ill pair my wilson chrome with my chrome asatic mic,and chrome 29 with a 250 amp some day and seel as a kit to a local..Put that $ twards some stuff i want to go with my 955 set up..
