$600 wk. Years ago, about as much as a driver running 3000 mi/week.

I looked into a driver leader position several months ago. It was a superficial inquiry. Pay is $45,000 - $50,000 a year now. Mon-Fri, 7am to 5pm shift.

The main thing that I didn't like is you are expected to check in on things over the weekend when you are off, give your personal cell phone number to all your drivers and answer the cellphone during off hours.

I have my DM's number, and I have never used it.
That would be very rude to call her on her day off or after hours.
She is, after all, not my servant or slave.

45-50 sound a bit low for what they do, and put up with.

I agree. My DL is awesome to me and I'd never dare call her when she isn't working unless it was a real dire emergency, like in the hospital kind of thing.

I do think I like the way Swift has planners and driver leaders. My DL is like my advocate and her priority isn't getting me to run as many miles and loads as she can, like a planner might want to do. Naturally, DLs and planners work together. But, I think it is wise that Swift had separated them. DLs focus is taking care of drivers, Planner function is taking care of loads.

Some of the DLs I had were better than others but I’m happy they make less than I do now.
