wow just don't see how there is any money to be made then. Thought LS wasn't allowed to take a percentage of the FSC, thought it was 100% to the O/O.....If it is figured in the rate & then they take 35%/36% of posted rate that is really the pits.

they don't get part of the FSC but the agents list it all together to make it look better. then when you call they will break in down as to how much is the linehaul and how much is FSC or other pay

Rates are getting lower everywhere. The company I drive for just lost a big account they had that was coast to coast, with some midwest freight mixed in. A big company, which they did not name, came in and bid the freight at 95 CPM gross. How can you run 2400 mile loads at 95 CPM gross and sill stay in business.

The only answer I have is driver mill trainers and trainees on a team truck, with the two combined making less than what one driver used to make.

If fuel is 45-50 CPM, drivers are 40-45 CPM including all benefits and company matched taxes, that's your 95 CPM right there.

A well known flatbed company cut LS's rate on loads from Texas to PA by over $1000 and has their drivers lining up to haul them. 10 foot wide for 1.40 a mile, don't call me.

everyone is undercutting their way right into bankruptcy.unfortunatly they are going to drag us all down with them.

I can't blame the big star for the rates. they can't post a load for $2mi when some other carrier will take it for $1mi.

Just this morning I called on a load. Louisiana to green bay WI for $1.70mi. I jumped on it for that rate. then the agent tells me he doesn't have the load yet he thinks there will be two out of there today. I told him I definatly wanted one and gave him my number. He said he'd know within the hour. well about a half hour later it disapeared off the board. it's possible he gave it to someone else but it's more likely that since he didn't have the load yet that some other carrier took it for allot less. Everything else in that freight lane right now is under $1.10mi if it's not hazmat

thats because they are double brokering loads thru ch robison.i started with landstar but i am already looking elsewhere, they pay 64% of 100.you get 100% of the fuel surcharge, but if you have a load that has stops you only get 64% of the drop pay.they charge you for transflo, which is 2.00 per load, they charge to scan your logs they charge you 1.75 to put the 30% advance on your card, any time you get money added to your card that is 1.75.you have to pay 18.99 a week for insurance, for bobtail.i was only paying 20 a month before i went there and no i am paying 80 a month.you do not get paid after every load.i like the freedom of landstar but all those deductions really add up.they have a plate program and charge you 95 dollars a week, til paid in full.you have to buy the loack set which is 150 dollars.so i guess if you don't have alot of bills and your truck is paid for then they might be a good fit.but if a load is paying real good to go somewhere more than likely there is nothing coming back that pays anything.

All the info on the rates on this string are since October. What are the current rates with Land Star? Do they average over a $1.10?

I left them a month ago. the rates were in the $1.30 to $1.40 mi range in general. less out of TX and much less (sub $1) out of the east coast. those are the gross rates on vans so if your pulling one of their vans you get 65% of that. if you have your own van then it's like 73% or something. I can't help with the flatbed stuff.
Also that percntage doesn't cover your insurance, plates or permits. you pay those fees weekly or buy your own

where did you sign on at? My husband and I are team, been leasing with Prime but just got approved to purchase our own truck. we are considering JCT but liked the freedom option with LandStar. Don't trust Prime any longer.
