Ive just begun driving trucks and I have a big problem with sitting on my rump for 12+ hours and my back isnt too happy about it either. The truck i'm driving has leather seats which doesnt help, but I'm wondering what you more experienced drivers have discovered about comfort while sitting for so long?

Don't sit for 12+ hours. Get up every 2 or 3 hours and move around. When you park for the night walk around for a few mintues if you can.

I do that but it doesnt really help in the long run. It refreshes me for about 30 minutes, then i've got another 3-4 hour drive before I get to stretch again. There has to be a way to make that drivers seat more forgiving on my back and rump. I end up coming home more sore and tired than if I worked a factory job from 9-5. Also I have to stay in that seat as much as possible to get my 4 rounds in every day, if I take too much time out of the truck I miss that last load, and the boss man doesnt like that at all.

Wow, I could never sit & drive for 12+ hours. I do stop a long the way to relieve my bladder and stretch my legs, that helps a lot. Also I make adjustments to my seat along the way, not major, just little changes so I am not in the exact same position all the time.
My trainer had this cool lumbar seat thing that was awesome, I didn't realize how much so until I got my own truck without it. LOL It is on my christmas list.
One thing that always helps he back and body is to drink water, stay hydrated, the disc in between your vertebrea are mostly water, so if you stay hydrated you have more cush.

Nope. Try getting a seat cover. No I don't mean a G/F or wife unit, while that does help.:biggrin_25525::biggrin_25525: Some seat covers have a slight massaging effect.

Then after all the water the more stops you'll have to relieve yourself. You can try to roll up a towel and place it right at your lower back plus when you stop you can do exercises that help the lower back.

    nsmoke Thanks this.

I also place the rolled towel under my legs on long stretches. It helps to elevate the knees higher and give the whole body a different position. I have notice relief in my lower back when I do this.
