I had a call from TQL yesterday asking if I had a flatbed available in PA. I asked him, do you even read the carrier profiles before calling? If you did, you would see I pull reefer on the west coast, and I canceled my broker agreement with TQL over a year ago because of low rates, poor customer service, and stupid ##### calls like this one. He hung up.
Who is 100% on their own here?

They called me, thought I was near home, and wanted to know if I was available for Miami load that day. I said no I'm in West Virginia. He hung up, didn't even try to make and excuse or apologize for wasting my time. #### TQL

No rhyme or reason to XPO. They can be the best or worst depending on the day....or the load. They do pay fast though with a low percentage (for quickpay).

A question for you independent guys, do any of you keep a spare truck to help minimize down time for unexpected repairs? If so how do you go about keeping that second truck insured? My insurance agent told me each truck would need to be fully insured under my authority.

Cool I did not know this! My guy said same...all have to be insured.
But no...I don't. I am just insane about preventative maintenance and if it is something that sneaks up on me I just roll with the punch.jamespmack and God prefers Diesels Thank this. -
When I get my next truck, I was going to use this one as a spare, and just take it off the insurance. Only one truck on the road, should only be paying insurance on one truck. Any reason you actually have to insure it, other than a greedy agent saying you have to?
jamespmack and Mattflat362 Thank this. -
I just sent a email out to my guy asking about this again.
God prefers Diesels Thanks this.
