If it wasn't spinning long enough to get hot from friction, I'd think it was fine still. Is it leaking?

Final Drive and Rideandrepair Thank this.

It caught fire. I'm not sure if it was leaking really. I smelt oil. But there was no signs of a leak

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Caught fire? I can’t help but laugh. Sounds like quite an adventure. Anytime fires involved, it could have been much worse. Lol. Whew!!

Been there, but I was fortunate enough to be in a company truck, lol. I somehow managed to pick up a 2" strap. Burned up the pinion seal, then cut a air line going to a brake can and took out some wiring. Luckily I dont rely on dealerships. I found a good independent shop 30mi away the next morning and they had the truck fixed up for a grand.
