Have been seeing the commercials for Verizon and am wondering how true they are. Can you REALLY get 3G service, for a laptop, almost anywhere. I currently have ATT and its driving me up a wall with the lack of fast access.
Is there a better way to go than either of these, that is reliable and quick?
Thanks in advance for any and all responses.

I had ATT and was so disgusted with it, I cancelled it under 6 months. No early contract penalty. Went with Verizon and have never had a problem in almost 2 years.

Our tests have concluded the following in terms of voice and data coverage and speed for 2009 (ordered from best to worse) for the companies we tested:

    Verizon (best)
    Sprint (good)
    ATT (not so good)
    T-Mobile (yikes)

There are several threads about Millenicom which are intriguing us because of their unlimited data plan, but they use either Sprint or Verizon towers (your choice when you get their plan) to feed the signals - so the above order still applies to them too in terms of coverage and speed.

I have everything Verizon. Phone and mobile broadband. I have yet to find anywhere I can't get broadband service here in the midwest at least. I'll never switch.

i just got Sprint broadband and it's been great so far,Sprint doesn't have the greatest voice coverage, but their data service is great.i had Verizon cell service in 2005 & it sucked,it only improved because they took over Alltel

Alltel? :biggrin_2559: That's funny! I've had Verizon cell svc for 10 years. At different times i have tried other services but canceled and went back to verizon within the first month because none of them could come close to Verizon's coverage.

I use Millenicom on Verizon towers, and love it! Very rarely do I NOT have service, even when my phone won't work(Sprint towers).

So, I'd definitely say Verizon would have to be on top.

Also, my wife's phone is through AT&T, and I have service even where that phone won't work.

Thanks to all who have responded. Looks like I'll be going to Verizon when I hit the house again.
So here's another question. How can Millenicom, give you unlimited services, over a tower owned by somebody who caps you at 5 gig and why do they cap us at 5 gig?

Verizon and others base the 5gb cap to "stop illegal downloads and save network bandwidth". That is what they say anyhow. Basically, with the current trend of increasing bandwidth usage, they saw it as a way to make more money.

Millenicom only has the gentleman's agreement because Verizon complained. Millenicom leases the lines from Verizon.

The only reason Verizon complained is because they were losing customers. Millenicom is still looking for a legal way to get around it, and have actually found a couple work arounds.
