Only time I think fingerless super trucker gloves are needed. Had to fill in for a yard dog my hands were raw at the end of the day from so much backing.

If you are busy your knees will wear out getting in and out of the tractor 100 plus times a day to open & close trailer doors. The good news you get to punch clueless OTR drivers in the nose when they blame the high trailers on you and not the untrained idiots dropping trailers too high. Everytime I looked at that type of job it was among the lowest paying CDL jobs.

I’ve seen some yard dogs fuel at truck stop and those spotters didn’t have plates either. I doubt the driver had a CDL too...

Let me know how you like it kinda kick myself for not taking the offer when I got it.
Home everyday seems nice now that I’m stuck out a week at a time.

People break the law. News at 11:00!

Just because you seen it, doesn't make it legal.

Who ever had the wet dream that spotting doesn't count on your record.
I bet you crash into something that would count on your record.

It all counts, a future employer does only know what you tell them, you simply list " Whole Foods / Driver" on the application. I have done several stints as a yard-dog, when I was with Centerline Drivers, it all counted the same. And it will make you a better driver in the long run. Good luck and enjoy being at home while the nay Sayers are doing (never mind don't want to know) what ever they do alone. Enjoy your family. Stay safe.

I love my yard dogs; they get food, water, and shelter. The best veterinary care I can afford. In exchange, they stay outside and help keep wildlife critters at bay. Excluding the occasional possum that hangs around and eats the cats food.

That’s better treatment than I got when I was a yard dog.
