it's hard to come in as a local driver.
your best bet is to go otr for a few years then go local. local jobs go to the drivers with the most O.D. exp. -
if you want hometime what is the average time out
-
home time just depends on the trip you pull. usually 2 to 8 day's with the average trip of about 5 days. some times you will pull 2 trips in 1 week. -
....what are the average miles per week with linehaul?
-
Out of curiosity I contacted OD VIA email to ask one question. I was directed to contact the terminal manager in my area which I did. I called and spoke to several terminal managers in my state of Alabama. I'm leaving out the names as I don't feel it's proper to mention a persons given name on a website. My question was related to the ability to lift and carry 60 lbs over head on a regular basis. I personally, cannot do that. In the OD driver requirements posted on their website it clearly states that is a mandatory requirement this was confirmed by 3 terminal managers that I spoke to.

Smurf, Do they hire out of CT...I know they have a couple of addresses up here???
-
yes...it's one of their rules. but in all honesty it's something you will very very rarely do. only local drivers will do very much lifting. i some times go 5 or 6 months without touching any freight what so ever. -
I'm not sure about this one. they are always on the lookout for good drivers. your best bet would be to call the terminal thats close to you and talk with them. ask to speak with the "terminal" manager or someone in recruiting.
