So I have been playing with my new aa55 to tune some antennas
I can get most of them pretty good (resonant on any given freq)
I have one question that I can’t seem to get answered, and that is on the phase reading :
I just want to know what a good reading is on this ?
When the aa55 reads antenna and or coax and antenna are resonant, the x is 0 and the phase is around 180 give or take and z and r or around 50 five or take
Is the 180 a good reading on the phase ?????
Thanks

I use the lowly SWR meter to tune my mobile antennas. But, I've been told that when using an antenna analyzer, the proper antenna tuning sequence is:
1. X=0 or as close as possible to 0, generally by adjusting antenna length for resonance
2. R close to 50 [ohms] with the proper coax and ground plane factor re antenna location
3. SWR at 1.5 or below
I haven't read of anyone festering about the phase angle on mobile antennas. Maybe it's for those base units that worry about horizontal configuration vs vertical, etc. -
You are correct about the X and the R and I get those numbers, at the time I didn't understand the phaseout starting to get it now
it has to do with the electrical current flowing through the coax
With X at 0 and R at (or as close as possible ) Im getting SWR readings of 1.07 ....LOOKING GOODMeteorgray and Timin770 Thank this. -
So, what can / should you do about the phase angle of the electrical current flowing through the coax?
And is 180 degree good / bad / indifferent
Maybe I need some -
Just to mess with your minds, just because you have a resonating radiating element, does not mean that the antenna is going to be the most effective at that frequency.
the same goes for swr and phase relation of the feedline. You can have perfect phase in the system and have a system that doesn’t work well. -

Well
I’ll tell ya this, I have all the numbers right Right where everybody claims they have to be and I’m talking and receiving out around 35 miles so good enough for meTimin770 Thanks this. -

A mobile system uses capacitance between the earth and the vehicle and there is a relationship between the second half of the antenna system and the vehicle.
numbers don’t show any of that.
getting it close doesn’t mean it is a resonant system.
