I posted a while back about getting back into a semi decent company in 2010 after a rollover in 2007. Tried parking my truck behind the Jack in the Crack in Bishop CA and noticed the lot being much smaller than it was thanks to LADWP buying up more land in front of its existing property.

This time around I've been doing more regional tank. Primarily just NM-CO-and back. Started doing the run in June of last year and couldn't help but notice the absence of the Pilot near the Purina off the 70 near downtown Denver. Looked up maps and some online reviews elsewhere to find it was torn down back in 2018 for the 70 expansion.

Not the best of places back when I used to park there in 2011/12. But I always thought these urban truck stops were a nice way to go out and explore the city/urban core on down time. The things that disappear when you don't roll through an area for years at a time.

It was convenient to the Safeway whse's also, but the chance of losing a hood were very high. Having the BB behind was nice, but if you ever got in line, no way to leave if you changed your mind.

    Yeah
It was definitely tight to get into. Always had to be committed once I knew for sure I wanted to park there. Even during the middle of the day that place was usually packed.

Now I usually park at the Aurora Organic dropyard up in Platteville or the truck stop 7-11 over in Firestone. I was at that PFJ in Aurora a few months back while waiting on a clean tanker from Kroger(very rare but it happens) and that place was still packed to the bone on a Monday at 10am. Usually everyone's off of "bedtime" and long gone by 7-8am everywhere else. Luckily I was bobtail and was able to linger until a spot opened up.

Good riddance, that place was a dump. Not as bad as the TAs in Nashville or Atlanta, but not any better than the Pilot in Gary or any of the places in West Memphis.

That was the Pilot on Steele street. Pilot corporate must've known it was going to be demolished so they never bothered policing the parking lot in any way.

It was definitely nice back when I used to do dry van in 2010/11 and had to wait for another load. Close proximity to down town so I could pull my bike off for a ride or catch the bus for some exploring. Of course nowadays, my milk tanker loads are all drop and hook with a large delivery window and another one down in Hartley waiting. So I'm more inclined to just punch it through my work week as legally able to until I get to load 2 or 3. Then head right back home for a few days.

Denver is my hometown, so I'm familiar with the Pilot you speak of. Yeah, it was convenient but very cramped. Not many were sorry to see it go.
