I’m in Denver. I took a good load up here. But the rates leaving Colorado are crazy low right now. I’m talking 99cent a mile hurling 44k. What can I do to get out of here back to Texas?
Dry van.

Stretch out your deadhead, or drive home empty. And don't go back there.

You put high paying that got you to Denver and add it to low paying load going out. Hopefully both loads together make a good rate per mile.
I once deadhead to Nebraska for load of garage doors going to Nevada from Denver. I used to also get those heavy Coors beer loadsVampire, God prefers Diesels, JoeyJunk and 2 others Thank this. -
See also I had a load that paid pretty good going to Miami.

Florida is the same way. if you’re dumb enough to take a load to Florida , you better get paid good, cause you’re gonna be dead heading out.
I used to take good paying loads to Florida, and just came back to Atlanta or Biloxi empty. The dispatchers and brokers were always begging you to take a load out of Florida for 65 cents a mile because it will pay for your fuel.
EFF that, I’d rather leave empty and get a five or ten hour head start.
I could be back in Atlanta or somewhere with good paying loads by the time I got loaded in Florida with a super low paying load.
got a friend that just dead headed five hours, picked up a high paying load that was a 300 mile delivery, and will be deadheading seven hours back home.
because it was a super high paying load that made it all worthwhile.
The 300 mile delivery paid about $8 bucks a mile.Speed_Drums, Constant Learner, TheLoadOut and 6 others Thank this. -

Colorado has always been a cheap market because it’s more of a consumer market than a producing market that’s why they offer the rates they do coming out because they know they can get away with it with a lot of people
