I realize some carriers don't think with their head. But who works with these brokers?

I called on a load today and I remember them from a long time ago. So I say to the guy you have in your agreement that if the receiver refuses this load or any part of it for any reason whatsoever that has nothing to do with the carrier, that the carrier accepts taking that load back at 1.75 a mile. I said this is a short load that I have to cross a bridge to take. Please take that off the rate con because that's ridiculous to pay The Bridge toll and receive $1.75 a mile when it is not my fault.

The guy actually said well I think we're paying you pretty well and he hung up on me! Who works for a holes like that?

Then I had another broker that in his agreement he says truck ordered not used is $100 a layover is $100 and detention is $25 an hour and he didn't even list it but I'm sure that was after three hours. Then it said if the carrier for any reason directly calls the facility they get a 20% reduction in the rate. So if you call for directions or to check an appointment they take 20% of the rate. You must use tracking or you receive a 20% reduction in the rate. You must be on time or receive a 20% reduction in the rate. And the hell of it is the broker told me I didn't even need to track the load but it says in there agreement no exceptions.

Then I came across another broker, all of this within one day, and this one has in his agreement if a receiver for whatever reason refuses anyting you agree to take it back to the shipper 100% completely at your own expense!

When I copied and pasted that part of the agreement and sent it back to him and said I don't agree with that he never even got back to me because he knows that they just screw people.

Always read the rate cons and the agreements very carefully.

I don't know who works for them but they should know better.

And these are "A" rated credit brokers off one of the big load boards?

You're right, we need these brokers names so we can know who to watch for.

Unfortunately there are brokers like that. I won't haul anything for brokers like that. The $100 tonu and layover are way too cheap as well... The norm is $150 tonu and $250 layover. I have even gotten $400 for a layover before.

It's funny because I told him that in an email and they sent me back an email and said well you know I've never heard that before of the thousands of people that work with us no one has ever said that.

And I said well I'm saying it. I had a load two nights ago which is the truth, picking up from the same area where they're at and the load canceled and it was $150 for the truck ordered not used. And I told them that.

I've noticed some of these Brokers give a decent rate but it's not worth the Gamble to get nothing for truck ordered not used or to have to take a load back and not get paid anything for it that's absolutely ridiculous.

I think some guys see a decent rate and they just don't read anything I think they just sign it and then when they find out they're having trouble they get upset.

F them everybody just needs to stay away from them.

I guess I'm allowed to say the name of the brokers.

The broker that says you agree to haul the freight back at $1.75 per mile if they refused it for any reason, any reason whatsoever having nothing to do with the carrier, is Magellan transport or Magellan Logistics.

The one that wants you to haul anything refused back for absolutely nothing completely at your own expense is Raven cargo.

And the one that pays a minimal amount of money for truck ordered not used and detention and will take 20% off if you call any of the facilities is Smith Eagle Logistics.

Is TONU a common problem with van or reefer freight? I only ask because in 2.5 years of flatbed I've never had a TONU. I'm starting to think my experience pulling a flat exclusively over the past few years is a totally different game than the van and reefer guys play.

Yes, dry and reefer has its problems with production shut downs and slow loaders, even shipper ordering a truck and make an appointment and they're off for some reason. The people that hire skateboards are much more professional and usually need you to be there post haste.

If I don't have to request a TONU, then I consider it a good month.
