They have to be offering the total package. Good pay, good trucks, no handholding, and health benefits. If they’re 4 for 4, then make the move.

This also applies to moving out of an apartment. In addition to finding another place to live, getting all of one's belongings out, it is important that all checkpoints are met to get back the deposit, along with being sure to leave on good terms with the landlord.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

The absolute sheer driving force of our national economy - without truck drivers, our entire national economy would come to an absolute standstill - if not outright be dead.

Over the mountains, through the woods, into the valleys, coast to coast, from sea to shining sea - truck drivers can and do go anywhere and everywhere, every day, every night, all year round.

God bless you for having pulled yourself out this predicament. Lord willing, other homeless people will also be able to do this for themselves.

The reason most employer’s want their ‘local’ board to live close, is when there is a ‘call off’, or a slow day and you are not needed, you are still at home when you get the call. And also if it is a heavy day, they can call you in early, and you will be there shortly, not after you have to drive an hour or more to help out on a busy day.

As tight as the driver job market is currently, I wouldn't think the potential employer would think 9 minutes is a deal breaker

The manager is probably following company policy.
You gotta draw the line somewhere.

RV an option? 5th wheel trailers are cheaper than hotels. And you can move them with a big truck.

Not sure what your current housing situation is. What about a house share. Some one may be looking for a roommate close to the job. Just depends on the rent. If it s reasonable, may work. Then weekends or days off you go to your place.
