Disagree 100%. Distraction is distraction, period. Nothing with a screen should be allowed in the cab when driving!! Qualcomm, cell phone etc....... this should start some stuff flying. But that's just me........

I disagree, jtrnr1951, I think a computer setup to use GPS can be quite useful! I agree some people it would be a dsitraction...but, not all are the same. Either way, I always had a computer in my truck once we got them, LOL. I didn't keep it on the dash though...

I agree with Wise Here... I had mine hooked up to the passenger seat via a stand .. You know, just like the ones that POLICE CRUISERS use!

I hooked up my GPS.. I never played with it while going down the road, it was merely there to give me directions, and it was worth every penny.. As long as you aren't playing with it while going down the road then i don't see why it would be an issue.

Good point, or opinion I should say. I keep my laptop in the sleeper, when driving. So I guess we are both happy ! I expect almost nobody to agree with me on this one.
    Later........

jtrnr1951, I agree with you 100%! I carry my laptop in the sleeper and use it when I'm parked. GPS? Give me a break! At least once a week I see some idiot steering wheel holder that has a problem 'cause his GPS didn't tell him it wasn't a truck route, low underpass, dead end, etc, etc....

Learn how to read a map folks! Pay attention to where you are and next time you'll be able to get there without a map or GPS!

IF IT HAS A SCREEN IT SHOULDN'T BE WITHIN THE DRIVERS VEIW...PERIOD!

i see you geniuses every day that have this crap in you trucks and to a man/woman you are weaving around like a drunk while messing with your toys...Get a grip.! Learn how to write your directions down or better yet memorize them....I'm no rocket scientist but I can usually commit directions to memory or write them on a sheet of paper that I can quickly look at when at a red light.

There is NO excuse for the way you people drive when your playing with this junk!

I enjoy my computer but I have sense enough to know when it's appropriate to use it and when it's not.

    FriedTater and REDD Thank this.

My map is on my laptop. Doh.

I'm not taking my laptop out of the cab. I do not need my hand held, least of all by the idiot government. Ticket me. Fire me. Kiss my ###.

Chirst, I can read a map, but you know what, it's really nice to have a GPS for the final couple of miles. You know, the ones that everybody messes up when they send you the qualcomm message?

You "old timers" shouldn't be telling us "young bucks" nothing, after all, we have improved driver safety over the last 10 years. That and the last two times I have been hit, it's been old timers hitting me when I'm parked. BOTH TIMES.

    Texting, however, is completely retarded.

I think the problem with GPS units is you get ####### plugging into the info at the shipper and following it all the way through to the reciever. And the ####### not seeing the big ol signs saying 10'2" and topping their trailers. Of course, nobody ever topped a trailer before we had GPS units, so this is a new thing.
