From time to time I am monitoring possible delivery fuel job in my area (Detroit). Saw only 1 or 2 advertising (and even they need 2years exp fuel delivery)
So probably it's just an excuse to crew over people and make money which all this Oil companies lost last year when gas for 30$ per barrel.
Gas shortage this summer?

you don't want to know what the hourly breakdown for top scale linehaul is. -
You are working there because it is worth your time.
LTL pays even more and you don't even have to worry about having a bomb blowing up behind youibcalm19 Thanks this. -
129k divided by 52 weeks = $2489.xx
$2480 divided by 85 hours a week (overtime after 40) is $29.18 an hour.....
crap in my opinion for that job.
By the way those jobs used to pay 4 hour minimum if you worked 1 minute over4 hours you got 8 hours. Overtime after 8 hours a day. Overtime on Saturday no matter what. Hauling on a holiday was double time plus the holiday pay..... and on and on....
That’s when Mobil, Exxon , Shell , Texaco all had their own fleets.......Last edited: May 5, 2021

I get $30/hr for driving a company car and putting on disposable gloves and filling a vial, completing the paperwork , and driving it to the lab or packing it in ice and fed ex’ing it to the lab.
If im gonna drive around with a 7000 gallon bomb on a trailer , and spend hours waiting to refill it at the tank farm, you’re gonna have to pay me a lot more than that.
I have zero overtime but I also like being home every night so I can grill out , sit in the jacuzzi , spend time with my kids family and friends. And I can set my own hours . No one cares when I take the samples as long as it gets done. -

tanks that the gas station owners allow to leak because they don’t maintain the leak detection system , or maintain the sacrificial anodes , or maintain any inventory reconciliation, or do regular tank tightness tests so they don’t notice or don’t care that their tanks leak and contaminate the surrounding area.
it takes about three years and costs a LOT of money to Decon the contaminated soil and water .
requires a lot of geologists and engineers and Enviromental technicians to do all the testing and design and install and operate
a system to pump and treat the groundwater and inject compressed air into the soil to evaporate the gasoline and recover the vapor. Etc etc
they thought I was a great fit for the job since I was a former trucker , and didn’t mind driving . I spend as much or more time driving as I do work at the job site.Rodeorowdy Thanks this. -

It's one thing for a single, unattached person with nothing better to do to run like that, but I have a farm and family to consider, as well as my physical and mental health.
I work to live, not live to work.
60 hours is more than enough for me, thank you.
If I could make decent money working 4 days a week, I would.meechyaboy, scythe08, ibcalm19 and 1 other person Thank this.
